well, even that didnt work... it is not correctly collimated... I cannot believe there is no accurate way to collimate this scope?!!

I was attracted to this scope by its value, small size and some positive reviews... As of now ive done google searches, forum searches and looked at manuals and im still nowhere... The only thing i do see is people saying to avoid the short tube scopes... Well, if only the collimation issues are mentioned in the reviews! hmph

The only thing i am sure of is im probably going to return this scope... I love stargazing but im repeatedly hampered by poor equipment, so im going to cut my loses i think and spend more money and get a dobsonian, possibly a lightbridge. Hopefully its simple dob mount and excellent meade optics and reputation should provide minimal trouble.

hopefully one day i can worry about finding nebulas and distant galaxies rather than if im actually going see anything due to poor collimation.

Do you know if there's an astro club in your area mate...
Should be able to sort it.

Maybe a cheshire collimator would be a better tool but you could do with
somebody having a look at it for you...

Thats a good idea, i'll have to scour around. I live just outside lichfield.

I think that is what i need i think, somebody with experience as im pretty confident this is not the easiest telescope to collimate.

Thanks in advance. thumbsup

I meant to post this last week and it totally slipped my mind.

Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth Astronomical Group
This group is intended as a friendly place to discuss all aspects of both the science and the hobby of Amateur Astronomy.

Visit us at: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/lst_astro/

This is a regional forum - intended to allow interaction between amateur astronomers located in the Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth and surrounding areas to meet, discuss equipment, to ask and answer questions, post observing reports, share techniques and announce informal get-togethers, etc. with a view to eventually forming an astronomical society for this area.

Newcomers to astronomy are most welcome here, as are armchair stargazers, veteran sky watchers, advanced visual observers and anyone who loves the night sky.

We wish our group to be a resource for those starting out in astronomy to find out where help is available.

Hi

Just read ya posts, I know they have been on a while but thought I'd still Post as I live between Wolves and Telford. and maybe could of helped but still learning myself too. I've had quite a bit of trouble collimating, never seemed to get it right with a laser, eventually got myself a cheshire, and got a lot closer, maybe not perfect yet but getting there. I found the cheshire much better, the more I played the bet better I seemed to get. hope you have this sorted out now,

Pete
